Employ a Klamath Works Program Participant
Klamath Works partners with employers looking to hire. Our employer partnerships are collaborative efforts where we match Klamath Works participants and certified job ready graduates to jobs that best suit their skills so that they can perform effectively. A winning outcome for everyone.
To help ensure job success, each Klamath Works participant heads into the work place with a mentor who walks and works with them as a friend. The mentor communicates with the participant’s employer to ensure the participant successfully transitions into work and stays on track afterwards. This kind of strong communication between mentor, employer and Klamath Works participant, allows us to quickly address any issues and improve on-the-job performance.
We want employers to see our participants as strong employee candidates. Our goal is to become the premiere organization in Oregon at returning the unemployed to work.
In some cases, employers may be able to hire a Klamath Works participant into a JOBS Plus job, a subsidized work program administered by Oregon’s Department of Human Services. Under JOBS Plus, individuals eligible for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) can be placed with private or public employers and receive a subsidy for wages paid. Employers determine the wage rate and pay the worker directly, while JOBS Plus workers receive a paycheck in lieu of public benefits. Employers are reimbursed by DHS at the Oregon minimum wage plus employer wage taxes and workers’ compensation costs for a maximum of 26 weeks, and there is no requirement that the employer hire the worker at the end of the JOBS Plus subsidy. This innovative public-private partnership helps businesses with labor and it helps participants gain skills and job experience. A win-win for everyone!
